Negative Thinking Shuts Us In A Prison
Did you know 80% of the populations are living their lives as if they were in prison? What a startling sad fact it is to know that none of the 80% are actually aware that this is basically due to the way they are thinking which is the true cause of the predicament they are in. I once listened to an article which was read by Bob Proctor which came from a man called MC Duncan and was taken from a transcript of a minister Rev Norman Neave’s sermon which was titled; wrong thinking.
It was a true story of a man who accidentally locked himself into a refrigerator box container. As the man tried frantically to get out by banging and screaming for help he very soon realized no one was going to rescue him. Resigned to his fate, he then gave up thinking positive about his predicament to try a find a way out, and started to scrawl what were to be his last remaining words.
He wrote; I am becoming cold, the next line went….. getting colder, nothing to do but wait, next line….. I am slowly freezing to death, half a sleep now, I can hardly write…… these may be my last words he wrote, and they in fact were. The next morning he was found dead.
The startling fact about this story was that whilst the container was malfunctioning, it actually never went below 49 degrees; this man became the victim of his own illusions, he let his circumstances and his reasoning factors control his thinking. And this unfortunately is in fact what a lot of us do, we misread the signals of our own predicaments and circumstances and like this man we too die, if you will, even though our predicaments and circumstances never even gets close to freezing.
We literally think ourselves into an early grave, and the only way we can combat this negative thinking is to cultivate optimism, so when uncomfortable circumstances call upon us, we must endeavor to stand toe too toe, and not resign ourselves to the inevitable consequences that will befall us if we do not.
However, there is another way of how this type of thinking can work with a positive end result, but it works only if we BELIEVE we can get the good results we desire and refuse to accept uncongenial circumstances as an excuse or alibi.
We can achieve our goal, or circumvent our particular circumstances or predicaments, no matter how daunting they at first may seem. In order for it to work we must QUIT deifying our circumstances and focus on the things that we WANT, and not focus on what we DON’T want, this is the secret. In other words stop focusing on the things which aren’t right, and start looking ahead for a solution.
Lee Land Vander Wald, dropped a pearl when he once said;”Lets not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around us in awareness.” I believe we must endeavor to find solutions to our problems so they won’t arise again, and the solutions I believe are within us. We must start looking on the inside and start changing the way we think, and to be mindful of how we talk to ourselves if we are ever going to see changes in our health, wealth, relationships, and career.
